Why Your AC Stopped Cooling
When your air conditioner runs but doesn't cool, it's frustrating and potentially dangerous in extreme heat. Let us diagnose and fix the problem quickly.
Common Reasons AC Blows Warm Air
Low Refrigerant
Refrigerant leaks are common and prevent your system from absorbing heat. We locate the leak, repair it, and recharge the system.
Dirty Evaporator Coil
A frozen or dirty indoor coil can't absorb heat effectively. This often causes the system to blow warm air or ice up.
Compressor Failure
The compressor circulates refrigerant. When it fails, cooling stops completely.
Clogged Air Filter
A severely dirty filter restricts airflow, reducing cooling capacity and potentially damaging the system.
Thermostat Issues
Incorrect settings or a faulty thermostat may cause cooling problems even when the system is working properly.
Quick Checks Before You Call
- Is the thermostat set to COOL and below room temperature?
- Is the air filter clean? (A dirty filter is a common cause)
- Is the outdoor unit running and free of debris?
- Are all vents open and unblocked?
- Has the circuit breaker tripped?
